standard

This video is a bit long but sooo good. I have been repeating it a lot. I found out a couple of days ago that my first Pastor had an affair in 2002. I wasn't in the city so I'm quite out of the loop. 10 years out of the loop apparently. At the time it came out they say there was an open discussion in the Church about it. He is human so subject to making mistakes. Like David in the Bible. And putting it under the blood and not looking back is probably a good strategy. But is there a higher standard that is required of people in leadership? The range of people that this hurt is much larger because of his sphere of influence. I am wrestling to make sure this doesn't harm me. I believe he is still anointed and gifted and can do many great things for God but if I were in that Church still I think I would have a hard time trusting what he said. God is love and He forgives us if we ask.

Love and trust

The connection between love and trust I have been thinking about for a while. When Al prayed on Wednesday he talked about God trusting us because He loves us. Bob N. laughed and said that was silly. And really it is. Why God would trust fragile and failing humans makes no sense. But then a lot of the God thing doesn't make sense. Sending His Son to die for the sins of the world. So what makes sense to God may not make sense to us. We'll just have to deal. There are some things in the world that don't make sense that have nothing to do with God. Like the guy who killed his boyfriend, posted the killing on the internet and cut up his body parts. He's probably pleased with the publicity, which is pretty sick too. The boyfriend may have thought he loved and trusted the killer but it was all a lie. God's love isn't a lie though. It really is an amazing thing that God loves and trusts us. Love and trust are really intertwined. If you love someone you want to trust that they are behaving in your best interest. It is how you develop safety in your relationship. It speaks to the beautiful relationship that God wants with us. He wants more than to be our master. He wants a relationship with depth to show us the many facets of His love.
